This is the first part of a two-part article. Make sure to check out the continuation at the second part after reading.

Anybody should be able to wear whatever they want. However, some people feel a little more confident if their clothes seem to fit better. This is why a lot of people want to make sure that they are wearing suitable clothing for them. To do this, you would want to dress according to your body type.

Why do i need to dress according to my body type?

While it is not exactly a need to dress accordingly to your body type, some people may find that it helps them become more confident and comfortable with what you wear. It is important to remember that while confidence does come from within us, the way we live our lives and the choices we make can also make an impact.

Aside from helping you be more confident, you will also feel more comfortable if you dress in clothing made for your body type. This is because the manufacturers understand which areas need to be a little looser compared to others. This is why a lot of people would prefer to wear clothes that are made for their body types.

Measuring your body

Before you can learn your body type and decide what to wear along with it, you first need to measure your body’s sections. This is important because while we may fall into a general category of different body types, each person’s body is different from one another, and the measurements matter. So here’s how to measure your body.

1. Shoulders

It can be hard to measure your shoulders alone, so try to get some help. Start with one end of the measuring tape on one shoulder then simply go around and wrap it around your shoulder until the tape meets the end. Make sure it isn’t too tight or too loose.

2. Bust

Place the tape at the fullest part of your chest area and wrap it around, passing under your shoulders. Make sure the tape sits right on top of your breast but not tightly. This should give you a comfortable measurement of your bust.

3. Waist

When getting your waist measured, you may slouch or suck in your stomach. Make sure not to do this and be just as straight as you can while acting like you naturally do. Start right above your belly button and align the measuring tape at the slimmest part of your waist and wrap it around your body. You may want to do the same to the lower part of your waist below your belly button just for extra reference.

4. Hips

To measure your hips, you need to align the measuring tape to the fullest part of your buttocks. Make sure that you are standing straight when doing this. Wrap it around your hip while making sure the tape is levelled. This should give you the measurement for your hips.

Conclusion

Now that you know how to measure your body, you can begin to explore clothes for your body type. Remember, at the end of the day, it is still up to you what you wear, and this article simply acts as a guide. Check out the second part to learn more about dressing for your body type.
